Terrace farming is being encouraged in a select few cities in India to help alleviate food shortages and push self-reliance of families for vegetable growing. The city spearheading this project is Kochi, India, in which seedlings were distributed to over 500 families for home terrace farming. This program appears to be government sponsored, and will take responsibility for keeping the people informed on proper horticulture methods to maximize their terrace farms. Other cities invited into the program include: Tripunithura, Kakkanad, Maradu, Kalamassery, Thrikkakara, Alappuzha and Thrissur.
