India’s renewable energy sector is still considered under-developed. In 2011, India’s Energy Ministry determined that roughly 10 to 11% of India’s energy production comes from renewable sources. India’s two biggest renewable sources are wind and solar power. In fact, India has the 5th highest solar capacity of all countries in the world; but in a country with 1.1 billion people of which to provide energy, wind power only makes up a small portion of their energy infrastructure.
