Yes, India is one of the countries that is most vulnerable to the negative effects of global warming. According to a 1989 United Nations Environment Program study, “India has a vast coastal line and the rising sea levels caused by global warming will cause an ecological disaster.” Already, bad effects have been observed, as the Himalayan glaciers have started to melt. The average rate of retreat is apparently almost twice (34 meters) per year as compared to the 1971 levels of 19 meters.
