If we take 3D images of an area can we tell whether or not there was water there?

    Yes, the study of the movement of water on the earth’s crust is known as hydrogeology; by studying the characteristics of the land and the movement of sediments hydrogeologists are able to tell if and when water was present in an area. There are many methods for doing so and 3-d mapping is just one of the tools that they use. 3-d mapping is also used to study the possibility of the existence of water on other planets, such as Mars.
