The climate response to changes in greenhouse gas emissions is unknown, and most likely we will not know the full extent of our impact on climate change for decades, or even longer. Greenhouse gas levels have been rising steadily since the early 20th century, and simply reducing current emissions will not solve the problem – the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere will still be high. The goal is to cut emissions as much as possible to minimize climate damage, but it’s unlikely that we will see temperatures decrease as soon as emissions are reduced.
This is asking a larger question which is: can global warming be reversed? Experts seem to believe that yes, the effects of climate change can hopefully be stopped and eventually reversed.
