If the water is contaminated with the fish go somewhere else to spawn?

If the water is contaminated to the point where it is truly harmful to the fish, then chances are the fish would die anyway.  However, many species of fish spawn in the same area that they were born in, so if that area is not their natural habitat and they return there just to spawn, they may do so in contaminated water.  Most fish do not have the ability to sense whether or not the water is contaminated, so if they are healthy enough to spawn they will do so.
