Actually, Toyota’s concept car, an electric car, will be using a lithium-ion battery; the car will be released in 2012, as of January 2009. The car will get 50 miles of battery life, so commuters can drive to work or between home and public transport. Toyota actually owns a battery manufacturing plant, where both the lithium-ion and the nickel-metal hydride battery, which is used in traditional gas-electric systems, is manufactured. With Toyota’s commitment to the future, it is possible that further commitment to responsible transportation will soon become commonplace.
