If something is pickled can it go bad?

So long as it is made right to begin with and properly sealed, I don’t think so.  The pickling process is designed to destroy any dangerous organisms that would cause food to go bad, and once the food is sealed, nothing else is going to get in there to mess with it.  Of course, once a jar is opened and the contents are exposed to contaminants, it is possible that something could sneak in and spoil the food, but given the acidity of the pickling solution even that is fairly unlikely.
