If so many pharmaceuticals come from rainforests, why don’t big pharmaceutical companies buy up threatened forest land to conserve it for research?

    Because most pharmaceutical companies are more interested in synthetic and chemical compounds than natural ingredients for their medicines. These companies are all about profits, and sending research teams into forests would cost a lot of money and not yield a lot of results.
