Most satellites are at a perfect distance from earth (22,238 miles from the equator) so that their rotation around it takes 24 hours. Basically they’re moving with the earth at the same speed as the earth. To us then it doesn’t seem like they’re moving at all. This system is called Geostationary Earth Orbit. (Think: Geo = earth +stationary)
