Both US coasts are vulnerable to inundation by sea level rise. Much of the state of Florida is close to sea level. The mean elevation of the state is only 98 feet. The Atlantic and Gulf coasts also have areas of severe vulnerability such as the Chesapeake Bay area, including Washington DC and Baltimore, MD all the way down to North Carolina, as well as the Mississippi delta region. The North Coast of Alaska will also be vulnerable to severe coastal erosion.
