If light is natural, why is there such a thing as light pollution?

Light pollution is not the same as air pollution. It means that lights cast a glow which make it difficult to see the stars. When you see the earth at night from space, you can see the glow of our city lights. This is light pollution. Flagstaff, arizona is the first dark sky city. It was made so because of the lowell observatory.

Actually, light pollution refers to unnatural lighting, such as city lights (street lamps, florescent building lamps, stadium lighting, residential lighting, etc.) These lights destroy our view of the sky, wastes money and natural resources. Have you ever noticed that stars appear brighter in rural areas than in highly urbanized areas? This is due to light pollution. Where there is less unnatural lighting, the sky is clearer and brighter.
