No one can know for sure, but I would think that the park system wouldn’t have started as early as it did had it not been for John Muir. John Muir’s writing about locations such as Glacier Bay, Alaska and Mount Rainier, Washington that helped later turn them into national parks. It was John Muir’s influence on Teddy Roosevelt after a three night camping trip between the two that helped get Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove added to Yosemite National Park.
