If I get my water from a spring how can I test it for contaminants?

Your best option may be to pick up a water testing kit from a local hardware store or find them online. Depending on where a spring is located, there may be a wide variety of clays and sediments in the water, as well as some chemical/pesticide runoff from surrounding areas. While there are ways of getting your well or municipal water checked by local water companies, they may not extend this service to those who collect water from outside areas. To find out for sure, contact your local water treatment provider. You chould also check out MySpringWater.com for information on the process of bottling spring water.
