As long as you are not a child or pregnant, eating sushi three times a week should be safe enough. The FDA recommends eating about 2 meals a week of different types of fish. There are several fishes to avoid that have the highest levels of mercury, including Shark, Swordfish, King Mackerel, and Tilefish. Luckily for you, none of these fishes are commonly found in sushi. However, just to be safe, I would recommend keeping a list of the safest and most dangerous fish to eat in your wallet or purse. Also, you can easily find lists of the most environmentally “friendly” types of fish to eat, based on where they come from and whether they are over-harvested, etc.
