If humans can’t digest grass, then why do we drink wheatgrass?

Our jaws are not intended for chewing grass. Humans cannot digest grass fiber since we have different digestive systems than animals do. Animals chew grass until it is liquid and then swallow the fiber, thereby reaping the full benefit of grass.

Although we don’t contain the proper enzymes to digest grass, drinking wheat grass allows us to consume the nutrients alternatively.
