Yes, cold air (or cold anything) has a tendency to sink. We use ceiling fans to keep the air mixing in the house so it’s warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
Hot air rising creates a current when cooler air is pulled in to take its place. This is called convection and it’s a driving force in weather systems.
