If cities installed parking meters equipped with charging outlets, would that influence people to purchase plug-in hybrids?

    I’m sure it would help, but most cities and taxpayers at this point would be reluctant to pay the energy bill for you while you charge your car. This also involves installation of the outlets as well, which right now may not be worth the investment cost. Perhaps if people were charged for the usage rather than having the city foot the bill, much like a parking meter. I don’t see this being free for the vehicle operator.
