If Atlanta is one of the most forested cities in the US, why is its air quality ranked among the worst in the US? So trees have no effect on urban air quality?

Trees do clean carbon dioxide out of the air, but they can only do so much. The forests in Atlanta reduce the amount of carbon dioxide, but there is just more than the trees can use, so the level of air pollution remains high. Lots of pollution can also damage trees and their ability to clean the air.
