If animals in Africa end up at the delta why do they migrate so far away?

Animals migrate due to many reasons. Although they permanently settle in a particular area, some animals prefer to move further away to mate and/or to have offspring. This may be for reasons related to predator conditions, or more sufficient nutrients in a better environment for breeding. Deltaic waters and environments are completely different than oceanic environments. Some animals expand their geographic range for a certain amount of time, often corresponding with seasonal changes, before returning to their usual geographic habitat.
