Honestly, there aren’t all that many tobacco farms in the US anymore, so it’s not as significant as farms used for other crops. Still, it adds up: with 37,013 farms deriving at least half their sales from tobacco and an average of 62 acres of harvested cropland, that’s over 2 million total acres of land that could be used for other purposes, such as forest.
