If all of the ice melts, will the ice core sediments be gone forever?

Yes. If glacial ice from the antarctic is to melt, there will no longer be ice to take samples from, and this old ice will turn back to water if it melts. This would greatly impede any further scientific work to understand past climate changes on earth.
