If aerosol cans are so bad for the environment why do we continue to make them?

It’s not the aerosol cans themselves that are harmful to the ozone layer, but the chemicals used as a propellant. CFCs were once used but have been phased out due to their effect of depleting the ozone layer. Now aerosol cans use more environmentally-friendly alternatives.
