I have tons of leaves and pine needles on my property. but no trees to cut. Could I use leaves and needles to heat my house somehow?
Most manufacturers do not recommend burning anything in a pellet stove other than wood pellets. One of the problems with pine is that there tends to be a lot of residue, and although I am not positive, I would guess that the residue might be present in the needles as well (although likely in smaller amounts if the needles are dry). I would say it might be worth a try, but be prepared for the likelihood of having to clean the stove thoroughly afterward, and possibly the chimney as well.
