Any type of resource, including any type of meat, can be sustainable. Sustainability simply means that we are not using the resource faster than it is being replenished. So if we raise dogs for food, making sure that they breed as fast as we eat them, then yes, it is sustainable. This logic applies to every other food as well. Our beef supply is sustainable in the sense that we raise cows as fast as we butcher them. But be careful with this logic, because this is not at all environmentally sustainable – in consuming beef, we use more energy and water than we can replenish, making it environmentally damaging.
