biogenous sediments are mainly found in the bottom of the ocean. They can be composed of layers of plankton and are made of calcite or opal. Hydrogenous sediments are made near hydrothermal vents and are composed of ions found in the water. These are mainly dark colored. Terrigenous sediments form on land and are composed of mainly granite like compounds. Check the attached website for more information.
