The answer, is an uncertain yes. Scientists claim that we will see more storms, and more violent storms as a result of global warming. We have been seeing more hurricanes in shorter time spans, as well as more destructive hurricanes, than ever before. We cannot be sure until we see what happens over a larger time period, but the science suggests that storms like Katrina and Andrew are more likely to occur. The reason is that warmer sea waters will allow storms to pick up more hot air, which cause them to be more violent.
