I know that horseshoe crabs are very old, and alligators and sharks (among many other ancient animals) have been around since the dinosaurs, but which animals living today are the oldest of them all?

It’s tough to say for sure because we are still finding more and more fossils every day that help us date the occurrence of different species. It can also be tough to say because species are always undergoing minor changes through every generation. It is generally accepted that the Horseshoe Crab is the oldest species, however, going about 445 million years without undergoing major changes.
