I heard that it takes more energy to make a Toyota Prius, than the Prius saves. Is that true and if so then why bother buying them??

Sadly it is true that from beginning to end Prius’ take more energy than even the Hummer’s H3.  Factoring all energy costs the H3 comes to about $1.95 per mile while the hybrid cars come to around $3.30 per mile.  However, the reason is that this a newer and more difficult technology to produce.  It still is worth buying hybrids and encouraging the market the head that way.  If all factories were equipped to create these hybrids and the technology could create longer-lasting cars, then the expense would go way down.
