From what I can find, it could be a couple things. First, the tree could be reacting to insects or other parasitic organisms using the tree as a host. This would explain the change in color. The drooping, however, is probably from dehydration. If you have been watering it during the day, try watering it at night too. Plants retain water better that way and actually do better during the hot summer days.
