I have a crabapple tree, it is now July. Flowered nicely in the spring, but now some of the leaves have yellow/brown spots on top and some kind of growth under the leaves (spikey growth). What is this and how to “cure” it?

This is likely a version of the fungal tree disease “leaf spot”. The growth underneath the leaves could also be a part of this fungal disease. If the effects of the disease aren’t widespread, you can control it by removing the diseased leaves. However, fungicides may be used in severe cases.

If you have any further concern, I recommend contacting your local arborist.
