According to the website that I found, you can build an earthship in just about any climate. Depending on the weather where you are, you are going to need to do research on what types of material will work best in your earthship. This website (GreenHomeBuilding.com) says that earthships built in hot and humid areas should be facing north.
Michael Reynolds, the designer of earthships, wrote a book called Comfort In Any Climate, which may help you find the modifications that you need to build an earthship in your climate. You can buy the book at Amazon.com (prices between $10.99 and $13.05) by following this link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0962676748
