In humid climates do plants get a lot of their water from the air?

There are two types of plants that absorb water from the air: non-vascular plants and epiphytes. Non-vascular plants are basically plants that lack the things needed to transport water the way most plants do: they have no roots, leaves, xylem, or phloem (those last two are woody tissue and tissue that transports water throughout the sytem). These types of plants, which include mosses and lichen among others, do tend to favor humid environments.

Epiphytes are plants with a vascular system that grow off of other plants. They usually do no harm and are not seen as parasites. These plants include some mosses, orchids, and ferns.
