Biomimicry, or biomimetics, is “the science and art of emulating Nature’s best biological ideas to solve human problems” (see first link). The human body, then, is a good model because it represents a highly organized and efficient organism. Things like self-healing plastic on airplanes (like human tissue), lighter, safer cars (made with materials resembling human bones), and filtration systems (like human kidneys) are all examples of how technology is inspired by the human form.
