I was wondering if it was possible to make a doughnut that was not as bad for you as your usual doughnut. Is there any way of making a doughnut with out deep frying it?
Try baking it. I found a receipe that uses whole wheat pastry flour and cuts down a lot of the fat and caloric content simply by putting the doughnuts into the oven.
At my house we had a box of donut mix, and we brushed them with oil and baked them in a 400 degree oven. They were slightly tougher, but still very good.
You could try making vegan doughnuts. I found a recipe that might interest you!
