How would our environment be different if we only elected republicans?

Well, we can look at the record of the Bush administration for an indication of what would happen. Over the past eight years, environmental legislation was gutted and standards for pollution relaxed (for example, allowing a higher acceptable level of arsenic in drinking water). There seem to be many republicans who perceive any attempt to reign in businesses as anti-American, even if it’s for the sake of the environment or the health of ordinary American citizens. I think if we elected only republicans, the situation would be far worse than it is today, with fewer National Parks, less limits on emissions for corporations, etc. Many republican politicians favor the interests of the logging and mining industries over environmental concerns, so there would also probably be fewer forests and more areas devastated by mining.
