Well, reducing the money printed every year would have several effects. First, we would not need to use as much paper and inks, so that would reduce the resources that need to go into it. Second, we would not have to run the production lines at the mints as much, so that would save energy. Lastly, the mint would have less money to distribute, so that would save on gas. Depending on how much money they stopped printing we could save a lot of resources and energy, but it could come at a cost to the economy. Maybe we should all just try to increase the lifetime the money currently printed and use our credit cards (with online statements).
