How is a worm farm different from a compost heap? Is one better than the other?

In a compost heap you rely on heat to break down the waste matter. With worms it is the worms that do the breaking down. The former method tends to kill more good bacteria in the compost, while the latter adds nutrients to the compost from the worm castings.
