According to Nestlé, planting these trees will help farmers in the future: seedlings planted now will become taller trees later, which will shade cocoa plants and allow them to double their yield and increase the value of the crop itself. The 350,000 trees planted should also help offset 115,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide and improve watershed health. Landowners are also paid 0.30 USD for each tree that they plant on their property.
