Australia has already been affected by global warming, and the negative impacts are projected to continue. Australia may experience increased draught, more brush fires, continued bleaching of coral reefs, and negative impacts on agriculture as global warming worsens.
Additionally, some experts believe that global warming’s intensifying of weather patterns helped cause the terrible floods in Queensland earlier this year. Some have even said that these ‘once-in-100-years’ floods could end up happening as often as every 20 years due to global warming. The La Nina weather pattern, which is directly responsible for the floods, is fueled by warming ocean waters, and these temperatures are at their highest ever. Climate change cannot be ruled out as a possible cause.
