How were the Great Lakes formed?

    14,000 years ago, the Great Lakes were actually a sheet of ice,glacier, about 1km thick. The glacier moved slowly around the great lakes basin and carved the deep valleys and pushed aside large amounts of soil. Eventually the glacier melted and the great lakes were formed.
