The UNHCR has established environmental guidelines to prevent deforestation, decreasing water supplies, and disappearing natural food resources, all of which are further exacerbated by climate change. Specific projects include reforestation of in areas surrounding refugee camps, construction of environmentally friendly camp structures, use of energy efficient stoves and lights, and education of refugees.
