Like all bears, grizzly bear height can vary greatly. They can be as tall as 7 feet when standing! When they are are on all 4s they are about 4 feet tall.
On average, grizzly bears stand about 1 meter at the shoulder when they are on all fours and 2 meters on their hind legs. Males often stand 7.9 feet or more on their hind legs. Females are on average 38 percent smaller than the larger males. On average, grizzly bears from the Yukon River area are about 20 percent smaller than typical grizzlies.
