One species of Swiftlet builds its nest almost entirely from saliva threads and feathers or twigs. The nests are strong enough to support a family of Aerodramus Swiftlets. The nests are usually build in high places in caves or on cliffs. The saliva nests have become a very popular form of delicacy. Prices for these nests can reach up to $2,000 per pound. Eating the nest is believed to be beneficial to many aspects of one’s health.
