How is the steam used to produce electricity?

First, using any heat source (wood, coal, nuclear reactions, geothermal, ect.) you boil water and create steam. The expanding steam runs through a turbine, which is a fancy propeller. This turbine is connected to a generator. As the turbine spins the generator spins which creates electricity.
