Caffeine is probably the best thing to help you stay awake. However, sleep is very important so you should try to sleep 8 hours every night. Lack of sleep can cause headaches and sore muscles and joints. It can also make concentrating very difficult and can attribute to impaired congitive functioning. It can even weaken your immune system.
I also find that moving around and being active can help keep me awake when I am feeling a little bit drowsey. Sometimes I will run or do jumping jacks in place just to get my blood pumping and feeling alert. Like mcoffey mentioned, sleep is important and these techniques shouldn’t be used on a regular basis to make up for lack of sleep.
