How is sesame oil made?

50% of the sesame seed is oil, which makes sesame seeds a particularly good source for oil with this relatively high yield.  Once the sesame is ripe, the capsule that encloses the seeds will open and they can then be harvested for oil.  The oil is usually retrieved by being machine-pressed.
