Recycling is important to people’s health because the buildup of trash leads to the pollution of our air, water, and environment. Pollution can cause disease and lack of resources, all of which is harmful to our health.
Recycling is important because it prevents the build up and filling of landfill space. With the global population on the rise, we will want more spaces to build homes, schools, parks, etc., so the less amount of land tied up in landfill waste, the better. In addition, recyclable items could leach through soil and contaminate groundwater (some metals and plastics). Recycling is a much better alternative than burning trash, because you are able to save energy by making a new material out of a waste product verses acquiring more basic materials to make an item.
