Biomass on Earth is generated through photosynthesis in plants. Since this is the only means by which biomass can be created, the amount of plant life on Earth is always changing as new plants are grown and old ones are eaten or cut down by humans, and the rate at which any given plant creates biomass can vary depending on how much sun and nutrients it receives, the exact rate at which biomass is created worldwide is not a constant rate and can not be exactly measured.
