How is water purified through the water cycle?

Water is filtered through the water cycle when it seeps into to ground through soil, gravel, sand and rocks. Depending on the type of material the water seeps through determines the speed of filtration, along with how long it will take to purify the water. The state of the environment, along with the amount of pollutants in the water will determine how clean the water will get. Normally speaking the deeper the water is in the ground the purer it will be.
